American Board of Sexology Accreditation (ABS)
The American Board of Sexology (ABS) has issued an acknowledgment that the Somatica Institute have met its criteria in training coaches that assist clients with issues around sexual health and well being.
Graduates of the Somatica Sex & Relationship Coach Certification program who wish to pursue a professional career are now eligible to sign up for individual ABS membership to provide professional assurances to their clients. The Somatica Training and the Somatica Certification Program together fulfill the 300 hours required to become an ABS member.
The Somatica Certification Program is considered an in-depth study course of sex. As a graduate – in addition to being a certified sex and relationship coach – you are also a sexologist. Because our training is experiential and somatically-based, you may also identify yourself as a somatic sexologist.
More information is here in our blog post.
CAMFT Approval Towards Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) CEUs
As a CAMFT-approved Continuing Education Units (CEU) provider, the Somatica Institute is able to offer BBS CEUs to its students.
For mental health professionals, these CEUs add sex and intimacy tools to your Marriage & Family therapy practice. For both couples work and individual work, having the skills to help people embrace their sexual desires can greatly enhance your ability to support your client’s life.
The Somatica training is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) for Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC) looking for continuing education units.
To get your units, you need to make sure to let Somatica know in advance that you would like to receive CEUs when applying for the Somatica Certification Program. Somatica will track the hours you attend the course and provide you with the appropriate credits for them. That’s all you need to do.
